These include stallions in whom Newsells Park Stud has shares including Group 1 winners and proven Group 1 sires, Invincible Spirit (Green Desert), Lawman (Invincible Spirit), Lope De Vega (Shamardal), Motivator (Montjeu), and Notnowcato (Inchinor).
However, it was always Klaus J Jacobs' intention to stand stallions at Newsells Park Stud and with this in mind, the Stud purchased Mount Nelson in 2008 and a 50% share in Equiano in 2010.
Equiano proved to be an exceptional sprinter over five and six furlongs, with his trademark blistering speed making him one of only two sprinters in the last 75 years to have won the prestigious Gr.1 Kings Stand Stakes on more than one occasion. His emphatic victories over the best sprinters from around the globe at Royal Ascot, both as a three-year-old and five-year-old, marked him out as a very special sprinter indeed.
This speed, combined with his outstanding conformation and commercial sire line ensured that Equiano was extremely well received by breeders in his first year at stud, covering a full book, including 100 outside mares.
The imposing Mount Nelson continues to be well supported by breeders. An exceptional looking individual, he appears to be stamping his stock in his own impressive mould. His first crop yearlings were well received at the sales realising up to 150,000gns, and are with all the best trainers. His first runners in 2012 look to be exciting prospects.
Mount Nelson was a brilliant juvenile, winning the Group 1 Criterium International over a mile in a course record time, and he demonstrated considerable toughness, temperament and ability to win the Group 1 Eclipse Stakes. He is also bred on the same successful Danzig/Sharpen Up sire cross as both Danehill Dancer and Invincible Spirit.
