An impressive performance by Thundering On to land her first Group success in the Gr.3 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Salsabil Stakes at Navan Racecourse by over three lengths. The rise to this extended 10-furlong trip was ideal and once Joey Sheridan pressed the button approaching the final furlong the outcome was not in doubt.
The three-year-old filly was bred and raised at Newsells Park on behalf of owner/breeder Shapoor Mistry. Many congratulations to them, trainer Joseph O’Brien and jockey Joey Sheridan.
“She’s very classy and as with her dam this step up to a mile and a quarter suited,” Sheridan said of the filly who also has an Oaks entry. “She was green when she got there, so there’s plenty of improvement to come.”
By Frankel, Thundering On is a daughter of the owner-breeder’s Gr.1 Pretty Polly heroine Thundering Night by Night Of Thunder.
Thundering On was the fourth Group winner in April bred and raised at Newsells Park following victories by Damysus at Newmarket, Pearled Majesty at ParisLongchamp and Phantom Flight in Bahrain. All are certainly exciting horses to follow for the rest of the season.
