The fastest son of Frankel. Winner of the prestigious Gr.1 St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The Newsells bred Soffia followed up her recent Listed win with victory in the Gr.3 Ballyogan Stakes at the Curragh last night.
The four-year-old Kyllachy filly went to the front well over a furlong out and was very gutsy inside the last furlong to win by a neck this 6f race for owner Lady O’Reilly.
Trainer Eddie Lynam said: “Soffia is getting quicker now and maybe five is her best trip. She was gutsy. She is one of those fillies that just keeps improving.”
She began last year with a hat trick of wins over 5f and 6f ending the season with a fourth in the Listed race at Navan, then on her second start in 2019 she finished second in the Listed Woodlands Stakes and won the Listed Sole Power Stakes at Naas in May.
Bred and sold by Newsells Park Stud, Soffia is the first foal out of the Stakes performer Rime A Rien (Amadeus Wolf), a half-sister to dual Gr.3 winner Al Jazi (Canford Cliffs) and from the family of Lily Of The Valley dam of Gr.1 winner Mubtaahij. Rime A Rien also has a two-year-old filly by Nathaniel.
