Nothing understated about this new Stakes winner for Nathaniel

30/10/2023

The three-year-old daughter of Nathaniel, Understated, gained her first black-type Stakes success with victory in the Listed Prix Solitude over 1m2f at Saint-Cloud today.

Earlier this year she finished second in the Listed Height Of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood a month after winning her maiden at Windsor in April for owners Australian Bloodstock & Peter Jensen.

The Ralph Beckett trained filly tracked the leaders and under a strong drive from jockey Rossa Ryan she stayed on gamely to win by three quarters of a length.

Bred by Al Shahania Stud, Understated is out of the Makfi mare Catalyst, a daughter of the Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes and Gr.2 Lowther Stakes winner Bianca Nera. Bianca Nera is the dam of three Listed performers and grandam of Gr.1 winners Postponed and God Given

Her sire Nathaniel is now the sire of 8 Gr.1 winners and 70 Stakes winners or performers worldwide.
