New Stakes winner for Nathaniel at Longchamp

02/07/2020

Nathaniel’s daughter Alkandora broke her maiden today winning the Listed Prix Melisande at Longchamp.

Trained by Andre Fabre for Goldolphin the three-year-old filly challenged over 2f out and soon led to hold on to win by a nose at the line.  It was just her third start having finished second in a Conditions race in June, and second by a short head as a two-year-old in a valuable Maiden race.

Bred by Mr and Mrs DJ Deer, Alkandora is out of the Stakes placed Medicean mare Poplin, a daughter of Gr.2 Lancashire Oaks winner and Gr.1 placed Pongee. Consigned by Oakgrove Stud at Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 2, she was sold to Stroud Coleman Bloodstock for 85,000gns.

Alkandora was a new Stakes winner for Nathaniel, now the sire of 38 Stakes winners/performers including the incredible 10-time Gr.1 Champion Enable.
