New Group winner for Nathaniel in Lady Bowthorpe following Enable’s success

27/07/2020

It was a great weekend for Nathaniel with Lady Bowthorpe becoming a new Group winner for her sire yesterday following Enable’s eleventh Gr.1 win at the same track on Saturday.

Lady Bowthorpe was a very impressive winner of the Gr.3 Betfred Valiant Fillies’ Stakes at Ascot, surging past the field from last to first to land the 1m race by nearly five lengths for owner Mrs EL Banks.

Trainer William Jarvis said: “We’ve always thought a lot of Lady Bowthorpe. She’s owned by a very patient owner and this is her first Group-race winner, she’s a valuable filly now. She’s got a good turn of foot and I think she would get a mile and quarter in time but today was the plan.”

Bred by Scuderia Archi Romani the four-year-old filly sold for 82,000gns as a yearling at Tattersalls to James Toller.  Out of Maglietta Fina (Verglas), a winning half-sister to multiple Group winner Tullius, Lady Bowthorpe is a half-sister to four-time Group winner Speak In Colours.

Nathaniel has now sired the 11-time Gr.1 winner Enable, 3 Gr.1 winners and 39 Stakes winners/performers
