Nathaniel’s first-crop filly God Given wins her third Stakes race

Nathaniel’s first-crop daughter God Given won her third Stakes race in landing the Gr.3 Betway Pinnacle Stakes at Haydock on Saturday 9th June.

The four-year-old filly was always well positioned and kept on despite drifting right in the closing stakes to win by half a length for trainer Luca Cumani and owner/breeders St Albans Bloodstock.

Trainer Luca Cumani said: “This race was a prep for the Lancashire Oaks back here in three weeks’ time. It was just by chance a lot of God Given’s races have come on soft ground but she has dispelled any doubts about handling a fast surface. Even though the race wasn’t run to suit, she has fought her way back.  It would be nice to think she could be like her brother and go all the way to Gr.1s, she’s tough and she doesn’t give up.”

Last season God Given won the Gr.3 Prix Minerve at Deauville (pictured) and Listed Betbright Aphrodite Stakes at Newmarket.

A half-sister to three time Gr.1 winner Postponed, God Given is the fourth foal out of Ever Rigg, a winning Dubai Destination mare whose dam is the Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Bianca Nera, from the further family of Stakes winners Bondi Beach and Gale Force Ten.

Nathaniel also enjoyed Stakes success in Italy this weekend, with the consistent Stakes winner Chasedown winning his fourth Stakes race when cantering home readily in the Listed Premio Coppa D’Oro in Milan on Sunday 10th June.  On the same card the exciting three-year-old filly Sladina finished third in the Gr.2 Premio Oaks D’Italia.

Nathaniel has now sired four Group winners from his first-crop plus 11 Stakes horses, including 2017 Horse of the Year Enable.
