Naqeeb’s victory in the Listed Virgin Bet Foundation Stakes at Goodwood today provided his sire Nathaniel with a new Stakes winner.
Trained by Julie Camacho for owner N O’Keeffe, it was a well deserved victory for this highly rated five-year-old. Earlier in his career he was also placed in the Gr.2 Jockey Club Stakes and Listed Murless Stakes for Shadwell Estate Co before selling to his new connections at the Tattersalls 2024 Horses In Training Sales for 170,000gns.
Steve Brown, trainer’s assistant, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled with the result and delighted for Naqeeb as well. He’s run some big races in defeat this year, so it’s lovely to see him get his head in front. I’m thrilled for Ryan [Sexton], who rode him very well, he had him in the perfect position and committed him at the right time.”
Bred by Shadwell Stud, Naqeeb is the half-brother to six-time Gr.1 winner Baaeed and dual Gr.1 winner Hukum out of the Kingmambo mare Lahudood.
