Manaccan sprints to a triple Stakes victory

22/10/2022

The Newsells Park Stud – Ossie Ardiles Syndicate owned Manaccan continued his winning sequence with victory in the Gr.3 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Pat Smullen Mercury Stakes over 5f at Dundalk last night.

Trainer John Ryan said: “We train on an all-weather surface and we know he is a faster-ground horse rather than a soft-ground horse. I think we might have something very special for next year.

Obviously, there is a bigger picture for next year and Royal Ascot and the likes is probably where he is going to be aimed at. I know everyone gets excited because the Breeders’ Cup is around the corner, but it is not on my wavelength at the moment. That will be another day.”

Manaccan was following up his success in the Listed Rous Stakes at Ascot and the Listed Cazoo Scarbrough Stakes at Doncaster. This year he has also won the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Dash at Ascot and been placed in the Listed Hopeful Stakes at Newmarket and Gr.3 Dubai International Airport World Trophy Stakes at Newbury.

The three-year-old colt by Exceed And Excel has now amassed nearly £170,000 in prize money. He is one of two Stakes winners out of the Gr.2 Queen Mary Stakes runner-up Shyrl (Acclamation).

Manaccan is one of several horses that the Ossie Ardiles Syndicate have in training. This venture marks further evolvement of Newsells Park Stud since the acquisition of the stud by Graham Smith-Bernal in 2021. The aim of the racing syndicate is to offer shareholders a fun and special experience of racehorse ownership, from seeing their horses training on the gallops to exciting days out on racecourses across Europe, as well as enjoying social gatherings at the Newsells Park manor and other venues.
