Joy in July for Newsells with 11th Gr.1 winner & Enable victory for Nathaniel

30/07/2019

Enable’s epic victory in the Gr.1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at the weekend capped a very successful few weeks for Newsells Park Stud.  The Queen of racing was winning an incredible ninth Gr.1 race for the Newsells Park Stud sire Nathaniel, whilst earlier in July Japan became the eleventh Gr.1 winner bred or raised by the stud since 2010.

In addition at Ascot in the Gr.1 King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes the Newsells Park Stud bred Waldgeist finished a very creditable third despite ground not to his liking.  Earlier in the year this consistent, tough and talented five-year-old won his third Gr.1 race when landing the Gr.1 Prix Ganay.  His form now reads three Gr.1 races, two Gr.2 races and a Gr.3 race, and he has been placed in a further three Gr.1 races.

Just a few weeks ago another Newsells Park Stud bred, rising Ballydoyle star Japan won his first Gr.1 race, the Gr.1 Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris at ParisLongchamp. This three-year-old colt by Galileo was following up his recent success in the Gr.2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, having finished third in the Gr.1 Epsom Derby earlier in the month.

Other Group or Stakes winners bred by Newsells Park Stud in recent months include the sprinter Soffia storming home in the Gr.2 Friarstown Stud Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh, Demarchelier winning the Gr.3 Pennine Ridge Stakes at Belmont Park, and Ispolini scored in the Gr.3 Nad Al Sheba Trophy in Meydan earlier this year.  As well as Listed winner Tapisserie landing the 7f Eternal Stakes at Carlisle in June.

Once again, Newsells Park Stud will be consigning at the Goffs UK Premier Sale and Tattersalls October Yearling Sales, offering several siblings to these Group winners above – don’t miss your chance to buy a potential Gr.1 winner!
