Equiano’s son, the dual Gr.1 winning sprinter The Tin Man, made a successful seasonal debut yesterday when comfortably landing the Listed Weatherbys Hamilton Leisure Stakes at Windsor last night.

Winner of this race on his 2016 reappearance, the six-year-old travelled well at the back and picked up strongly to win with plenty in hand for trainer James Fanshawe and the owner partnership Fred Archer Racing – Ormonde.

He will next be targeted at the Gr.1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, a race he won last season.  The year before he won the Gr.1 QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes and has now amassed over £900,000 in prize money.

Bred by Mrs Elizabeth Grundy, The Tin Man is from Equiano’s first-crop out of Persario (Bishop of Cashel) and is a half-brother to Deacon Blues, a winner of the QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes in 2011.

As well as being by the Newsells Park Stud sire Equiano, The Tin Man was consigned by Newsells Park Stud at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale where he sold to Anthony Stroud Bloodstock for 80,000gns.
