Dashing son of Nathaniel adds more Stakes success to his form

Nathaniel’s Gr.2 winning son Dashing Willoughby added more Stakes success to his form in landing the Listed Betfair Exchange Buckhounds Stakes at Newmarket yesterday.

Making all, he kept on strongly from over 1f out and was always doing enough to win this high-class race over 1m4f first time out this season for owners Mick and Janice Mariscotti.  Last year he won the Gr.2 Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot, having finished 3rd in the Gr.3 Chester Vase earlier in the year.

Dashing Willoughby was continuing the successful weekend for trainer Andrew Balding and jockey Oisin Murphy.   Bred by Meon Valley Stud, he was purchased by his trainer for 70,000gns from Tattersalls October Book 1 Sales.  He is out of Miss Dashwood (Dylan Thomas), a winning half-sister to Speedy Boarding (Shamardal), winner of the Gr.1 Prix de l’Opera and Gr.1 Prix Jean Romanet.
