The week keeps getting better for horses bred by Newsells Park Stud, with Damysus winning the Gr.3 Earl of Sefton Stakes today at the Newmarket Craven meeting and Act Of Kindness finishing third in the Gr.3 Nell Gwyn Stakes on the same card. Both were following up Pearled Majesty’s impressive victory in the Gr.3 Prix Noailles at ParisLongchamp last Sunday.
Bred, raised and sold by Newsells Park Stud with our client Merry Fox Stud, the striking Damysus led over 1f out and quickened right away despite carrying a 3lb penalty. It was a very impressive performance by this four-year-old trained by John & Thady Gosden for Wathnan Racing.
Trainer John Gosden said: “He is more powerful now and his acceleration more instant. He will be aimed at races over 1 mile and 1 mile and a quarter including at Gr.1 level.”
Last year, Damysus won the Gr.3 Too Darn Hot Darley Stakes at Newmarket and the Listed The Aga Khan Studs Prix Nureyev at Deauville, having also finished second in the Gr.2 Dante Stakes and third in the Gr.3 Classic Trial.
Damysus was sold at the 2023 Tattersalls Book 1 Sale for 460,000gns to Blandford Bloodstock. He is by Frankel out of Legerete (Rahy), also the dam of Stakes winners Pilote and Esquisse, and she also a yearling colt and colt foal by Nathaniel.
The three-year-old filly, Act Of Kindness, was also bred, raised and sold by Newsells Park Stud with Merry Fox Stud. Trained by Charlie Appleby for Godolphin, she was gaining her first black-type having won her maiden as a two-year-old, and looks likely to progress again.
By Siyouni, Act Of Kindness was sold to Godolphin at the 2024 Tattersalls Book 1 Sale for 3,700,000gns. She is a half-sister to Gr.1 two-year-old winner Ylang Ylang (Frankel) out of the Shamardal mare Shambolic, herself a Stakes performing half-sister to Gr.1 winners Viva Pataca and Laughing.
All three are exciting horses to follow during the season ahead.
