Sire of the 2019 Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint winner Belvoir Bay and 3-time Gr.1 sprinter The Tin Man.
Equiano’s son Dakota Gold completed a hat-trick of Stakes success in landing the Listed William Hill Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes at Beverley today. Capping a great run for Equiano who has sired 19 winners in the last 14 days and the new two-year-old Group performer Apollo One.
He won this competitive sprint well showing all his usual speed and running on to win by one and a half lengths for trainer Michael Dods and owners Doug Graham, Ian Davison, and Alan Drysdale.
Jockey Connor Beasley said: “Dakota Gold is back to his best. He was well placed by the boss, bringing him back here. He sprung the lids and his tactical speed did the job. It was good to get him back in the winner’s enclosure.”
Dakota Gold typifies a sprinter by Equiano, tough and consistent having won 10 races including the Listed Rous Stakes at Ascot and Listed Garrowby Stakes at York as well as finishing second in the Gr.3 World Trophy Stakes at Newbury. He has now amassed nearly £300,000 in prize money for his connections.
Bred by Redgate Bloodstock and Peter Bottowley Bloodstock, Dakota Gold is out of Joyeaux (Mark Of Esteem), a half-sister to Gr.1 winner Aoife Alainn.
