Back to back Stakes success for Equiano’s son Dakota Gold

15/10/2020

Dakota Gold quickly struck again with Stakes success for his sire Equiano, hacking up in the Listed Rous Stakes which was rerouted to Nottingham yesterday.

Bouncing out of the stalls he showed plenty of speed and led from pillar to post, barely seeing another rival, for his trainer Michael Dods and owners Doug Graham, Ian Davison and Alan Drysdale.

Only last Sunday Dakota Gold made all again to land the Gr.3 Bengough Stakes at York. An incredibly tough, consistent and classy sprinter he has now won five Stakes races and been placed in a further three Stakes races. In total he has won 12 races and over £350,000 in prize money. He looks one for the top sprints next year.

Bred by Redgate Bloodstock and Peter Bottowley Bloodstock, Dakota Gold is out of Joyeaux (Mark Of Esteem), a half-sister to Gr.1 winner Aoife Alainn.

Newsells Park sire, Equiano is the sire of 29 Group/Stakes winners or performers, and is a leading sire of sprinters (5f-7f, 3yo+) by black-type races won, number of races won and prize money. Other high-class winners by Equiano include Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint Queen and record breaker Belvoir Bay and triple Gr.1 winning sprinter The Tin Man.

Don’t miss his 2020 yearlings this week at the Tattersalls October Sales.
