A’Ali first mare scanned in-foal

As you might expect from a triple Gr.2 winning juvenile, A’Ali has got off to a flying start in the breeding shed with his first mare successfully scanned in foal. She is the dual Stakes winner Terre du Vent who was also second in the Gr.2 Prix de Mallaret. She comes from the family of Gr.1 Racing Post winner Elm Park, and French Champion two-year-old, Risk Me.

“A’Ali is proving extremely professional in the breeding shed”, commented Newsells Park’s General Manager, Julian Dollar. “One of the perks of the job is that I get to run the breeding shed and oversee all the coverings. It’s one way I get to know the stallions extremely well. I’ve been lucky to work with a lot of stallions in the past, but I’ve never worked with a horse with a temperament like A’Ali. He’s just bombproof! He’s always looking forward and yet, completely chilled and relaxed, without ever being lazy. I’m a big believer in the mentality of a stallion being their greatest quality, so I just hope A’Ali passes this quality on to his stock.”

Dollar added, “He’s proving very popular with breeders. He has this, ‘He’s exactly what it says on the tin’ quality about him and you’d imagine that if he produces stock similar to himself, they should be fast and early.”

A’Ali proved one of the best juvenile sprinters of his generation, clocking up no less than three Gr.2 wins as a two-year-old, including the notable Norfolk Stakes and Flying Childers Stakes double. Unusually for such a precocious juvenile, he trained on to win a further Gr.2 and Gr.3, as a three-year-old, as well as finishing close behind Bataash in the Gr.1 Nunthorpe Stakes.
