A new Gr.2 winner for Nathaniel is God Given

13/09/2018

Nathaniel sired a new Gr.2 winner today with God Given winning the DFS Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster for trainer Luca Cumani and owner breeder St Albans Bloodstock Ltd.

From Nathaniel’s first-crop God Given showed a fine attitude when asked to pick up and kept on well to lead in the final 60yds.  It was a fourth Stakes success for this four-year-old filly having landed the Gr.3 Betway Pinnacle Stakes at Haydock in June and last season she won the Gr.3 Prix Minerve at Deauville and Listed Betbright Aphrodite Stakes at Newmarket.

The Gr.1 Fillies and Mares race at Ascot on Champions Day is her next target.

Trainer Luca Cumani said: “God Given always made the running because we thought she wanted a trip but after the Lillie Langtry, where she was a bit too keen in front, I thought if she is to get a mile and six we’d got to be a little bit more careful here. We got her settled to come and do battle in the straight. If she hadn’t won today we would have gone to France for a Group 2 on Arc weekend but now she’s got her Group 2 there’s no point and her last race will be the Group 1 at Ascot, then she will probably go to stud and make beautiful babies.”

A half-sister to three-time Gr.1 winner Postponed, God Given is the fourth foal out of Ever Rigg, a winning Dubai Destination mare whose dam is the Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Bianca Nera, from the further family of Stakes winners Bondi Beach and Gale Force Ten.

In addition, Nathaniel sired Pilaster who finished third in the Park Hill Stakes, following a Gr.2 win last time out.  It has been another great year for this Newsells-based sire with 5 Group winners plus 3 Stakes winners and 15 Gr/Stks horses in 2018 alone, including five-time Gr.1 winner Enable.
