Racing Success

The relatively young broodmare band at Newsells Park Stud has already enjoyed considerable success.

In 2011 the stud bred its first Classic winner with Masked Marvel victorious in the Gr.1 Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster in a record time.  Other Gr.1 winners include Rite Of Passage in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, and dual Gr.1 winner Gitano Hernando, who won the Goodwood Stakes at Santa Anita and Singapore Airlines International Cup. 

Other notable Stakes winners in 2011 include Gr.3 winner February Sun, the two-year-olds Gerfalcon and Miss Work Of Art, Ocean War, St Moritz and Grafitti.  In addition, Strawberrydaiquiri was third in the Sun Chariot Stakes (Gr.1) having finished second in this race before as well as winning the Windsor Forest Stakes (Gr.2), the Dahlia Stakes (Gr.3) and a hat trick of Listed races.  Another notable two-year-old is the Star Appeal Stakes (L) victor Mister Tee, who was also second in the Futurity Stakes (Gr.2). 

Soapy Danger and Linas Selection scored a double on the Friday of Royal Ascot in 2006, when taking the Queen's Vase (Gr.3) and King George V Stakes respectively. Soapy Danger triumphed again in the Princess of Wales's Stakes (Gr.2), as did Linas Selection in the Silver Cup (L).

Best Name also achieved multiple Stakes success. He won the Prix du Prince d'Orange (Gr.3) and Prix Francois Mathet (L) before running an impressive second in the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr.1).

Other Group 3 winners include Maroussies Wings in the Prix Minerve-Shadwell (Gr.3), following several Stakes places including a gallant third in the Ribblesdale Stakes (Gr.2), as well as Majounes Song who landed the Walther J Jacobs Stutenpreis (Gr.3), and Shipmaster in the Sagaro Stakes (Gr.3).

More Newsells bred Stakes winners and performers include Ares Choix, Clipperdown, Guilia, Kartica, Kings Quay, Lady Stardust, Marias Magic, Minneapolis, Mosqueras Romance, Nolas Lolly, Queen Amira, Royal Revival, Seaway and Snow Gretel.

While notable horses to have achieved success when running in the colours of Mrs Renata Jacobs include Prix de l’Opera winner Kinnaird, and Derby Italiano winner Osorio.
