Nathaniel’s run of success continued with Spirit Ridge winning the Listed January Cup over 2000m at Randwick in Australia on 9th January following up his recent victory in the Gr.3 Heineken Summer Cup at Randwick on Boxing Day.

Trainer Mark Newnham said he will consider targeting Spirit Ridge at the Gr.1 Sydney Cup in April, but first the six-year-old will enjoy a short break. He is certainly proving a consistent horse and providing lots of fun for his syndicate of owners. Bred by Juddmonte Farms, Spirit Ridge sold to De Burgh Equine/Darby Racing for 100,000gns at the Tattersalls Autumn HIT sales in 2019.

Nathaniel is the sire of three Gr.1 winners, including the Champion 11-time Gr.1 winner Enable, and 45 Stakes horses. More great horses are to come too with his 2020 yearlings realising 280,000gns, 200,000gns, 140,000gns, 120,000gns, 115,000gns etc, and he covered 360 mares in 2018/2019/2020.
