Trio of Stakes performers for Nathaniel today

01/05/2017 nathaniel

Nathaniel sired three successful Stakes runners today across Europe.

In Germany, Enjoy Vijay and Kastano finished second and third respectively in the Group 3 Bavarian Classic at Munich, a recognised trial for the Gr.1 Deutsches Derby.  Trained by Peter Schiergen for owner Gestut Ittlingen, Enjoy Vijay was just beaten a nose by Warring States on his three-year-old debut.

He was also reversing placings with Kastano, as on their last run as two-year-olds in the Group 3 Herzog von Ratibor-Rennen at Krefeld on 6th November Kastano was second and Enjoy Vijay was third.

Owned by Newsells Park Stud jointly with owner/breeder Gestut Rottgen, Kastano is a half-brother to Gr.1 performer Kassiano and Group 2 performer Kasalla.  Bred by Gestut Fahrhof, Enjoy Vijay is out of the Medicean mare Enjoy The Life.

The third Stakes performer today for Nathaniel was in France, with Falcon Wings finishing second in the Listed Prix de l'Avre at Saint Cloud to Wolf Country by three-quarters of a length, for trainer Nicolas Clement and owner/breeder Muteb Bin Abdullah.

Out of a half-sister to Gr.1 St Leger winner Rule of Law, Cast In Gold (Elusive Quality), Falcon Wings is a half-brother to three winners, namely the Gr.3 Sweet Solera Stakes third Wedding Ring (Oasis Dream).

Hopefully all three will soon win a Stakes race for their second-season sire Nathaniel, a brilliant three-year-old and four-year-old from a Classic family.

Wolf Country, the winner of the Listed Prix de l'Avre at Saint Cloud, was bred by Newsell Park Stud's sister stud Gestut Fahrhof and was consigned by Newsells at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 2 in 2015, where he sold for a record 725,000gns to John Ferguson.
