Several smart winners for Nathaniel

21/10/2016 Nathaniel

Nathaniel has enjoyed several smart winners in Europe in recent weeks.

Today the exciting Kastano won the Preis Vom Gestüt Graditz - Home of Lucky Lion by over 3 lengths at Baden-Baden.

Trainer Marcus Klug said: "I've always thought alot of him.  He's my best two-year-old and my main Derby hope for next year."

Owned by Newsells Park Stud and Gestüt Rottgen, Kastano made all the running and kept on well to win on his second start, on his first start he finished second to Langtang, subsequen winner of the Gr.3 Preis des Winterfavoriten.

Bred by Gestüt Rottgen, the two-year-old colt is a half-brother to the Gr.1-placed Kassiano and the Br.2 Diana Trial-third Kasalla.

On Sunday 16th October Nathaniel sired another smart winner in Falcon Wings, who comfortably won the Prix des Anemones at Lyon Parilly.  Trained by Nicolas Clement for owner/breeder Muteb Bin Abdullah, the two-year-old colt holds an entry for the Gr.1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud.

Out of a half-sister to Gr.1 St Leger winner Rule of Law, Cast In Gold (Elusive Quality), Falcon Wings is a half-brother to three winners, namely the Gr.3 Sweet Solera Stakes third Wedding Ring (Oasis Dream).

Just four days before at Lyon Parilly, Palombe readily won the Prix des Orchidee Maiden for trainer Andre Fabre and owner/breeder Baron Edouard de Rothschild, and was Nathaniel's first winner in France.

Palombe is out of Grey Lily (Boreal), a half-sister to the dual French Classic and Gr.1 Prix d'Ispahan winner Golden Lilac (Galileo).

2017 certainly looks to be a potentially exciting year for Nathaniel, a brilliant three-year-old and four-year-old from a Classic family. A family who improve dramatically from two to three - between 30lbs to 50lbs.
