Royal Ascot next for Equiano’s son Final Venture following Stakes win

10/06/2017 Equiano

Royal Ascot is on the cards now for Equiano's son Final Venture following his success in the Listed Achilles Stakes at Haydock last night.

The five-year-old broke well and made virtually all in this five furlong sprint, and gamely held onto victory despite a serious challenge from Kyllang Rock, both of whom pulled three lengths clear of the rest of the field.   This was his eighth career success from just 22 races, including two wins in Meydan earlier this year and he was last seen finishing fourth in the Gr.2 Temple Stakes.  He has now amassed prize money of over £240,000.

Trained by Paul Midgley for owner Taylor's Bloodstock Ltd, who purchased Final Venture out of Alan Swinbank's yard at last year's Tattersalls Autumn horses-in-training sale for 260,000gns, he looks to have an exciting season ahead with the Gr.1 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot his next target, a race won twice by his sire Equiano.

As well as being by the Newsells Park Stud sire Equiano, Final Venture was bred by the Stud.  He is a half-brother to the dual Listed winner Dever Dream (Medicean), out of the Listed Sandringham Stakes runner-up Sharplaw Venture (Polar Falcon), a half-sister to Gr.1 winner and sire Firebreak.
