Homebred Elas Ruby wins valuable black-type

15/06/2017 Newsells

The Newsells Park Stud homebred Elas Ruby gained some valuable black-type in winning the Listed Lord Weinstock Memorial EBF Stallions Stakes over 1m2f at Newbury today.

Also owned by Newsells Park Stud and trained by John Gosden this three-year-old filly led entering the final furlong and kept on strongly to win by a comfortable three and three-quarters length.

Jockey James Doyle said: "They went a nice pace and we were keen to keep tabs on them because we thought Elas Ruby would get a couple more furlongs. She's a grinder and wore them down - she's so genuine."

At winner at two, Elas Ruby looks to have a bright future.  By Raven's Pass, she is out of Elas Diamond (Danehill Dancer), a Stakes performing daughter of Ela Athena, who won the Group 3 Lancashire Oaks and was placed in an impressive seven Group 1 races, and is the dam of the mighty Group 2 Doncaster Cup winner Pallasator.  Elas Diamond also has a two-year-old by Nathaniel, a yearlling filly by Lope De Vega, and a filly foal by Golden Horn.
