Glorious sixth Stakes horse for Nathaniel

15/05/2017 Nathaniel

Nathaniel's run of Stakes success continued at the weekend with Glencadam Glory finishing an eye-catching second in the Listed Betfred Derby Trial Stakes at Lingfield on 13th May for owner Angus Dundee Distillers plc.

Despite missing the break by 5l, he recovered well and kept on well to draw clear from the rest of the field with the winner Best Solution.

Trainer John Gosden said: "Mr Hillman would like to run Glencadam Glory in the big one. The trainer has no problem with that - he just has to get him to leave the gate with the others rather than a number of lengths behind. Last time was 20 lengths, so we are improving. But he's a grand horse and he's learning. The winner has Group form. I just have to tidy him up at the gate. We've ironed a lot of things out with him, we just have to iron this last one out."

This three-year-old colt also won the high-class DFS British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden over 1m at Doncaster last season at two.

Bred by DJ and Mrs Deer, Glencadam Glory is out of the Stakes winning mare Lady Grace, and is a half-brother to the German Listed winner Penmaen from the family of Group 1 Falmouth Stakes winner Giofra.

The Newsells Park Stud stallion Nathaniel has now sired six Stakes horses this year from his first-crop including Oaks runner Enable, Enjoy Vijay, Kastano, Falcon Wings and Back On Board.
