Bloodstock agent, Will Edmeades, is the first lucky winner of a pure Gold Sovereign offered by Newsells Park Stud with their latest infamous chocolate mailer.
Yearling buyers were recently sent a bar of Newsells Mint chocolate, in which contained scratchcards with Gold Sovereigns as one of the prizes. Five more winning scratchcards are still to be claimed, so buyers are encouraged to scratch and match, then contact Newsells if they have won a Gold Sovereign.
Newsells Park Stud is also once again offering the chance to win a ‘Newsells £10,000 Golden Bonus’. Extremely well received last year, one lucky buyer from each of their four 2010 yearling consignments (Arqana Deauville, DBS Premier Sales, Tattersalls October Books 1 and 2) will have the chance to win an extra £10,000 should the yearling they purchase win a race already eligible for the Racing Post Bonus, or a class ‘B’ race in France.
Indeed, 2010 has been a ‘golden year’ for Newsells Park Stud, particularly at Royal Ascot where Rite of Passage won the Gold Cup (Gr.1), and Strawberrydaiquiri landed the Windsor Forest Stakes (Gr.2).
Newsells consignments at Arqana in Deauville have also enjoyed recent success. Gitano Hernando won the Goodwood Stakes (Gr.1) and St Moritz gamely landed the Bunbury Cup. Other exciting prospects offered at Deauville by Newsells include 2010 Stakes performers Kartica, Royal Revival and Midnight Game as well as the impressive unbeaten two-year-old, Manhaj.

As the top UK consignor at the Arqana Yearling Sale, Deauville, in 2009 and 2008, Newsells Park Stud is hoping buyers will support their yearlings again in 2010. The consignment includes a half-sister to Manhaj by Motivator (Lot 155), as well as a three-parts brother to Gr.3 winner, Maroussies Wings, by Galileo (Lot 65), and a half-brother to two-year-old Stakes winner, Fashion Rocks, by Monsun out of a two-year-old Stakes winning dam (Lot 54).
Other yearlings out of Stakes mares to be consigned at Deauville are a Shamardal colt out of the Gr.2 winning and German Oaks placed mare Quelle Amore (Lot 80), and a Monsun filly out of the Gr.3 Prix du Calvados winner Green Swallow (Lot 45). Also by Monsun is a filly out of the Falmouth Stakes placed Waldmark (Lot 102).
The sire of great champions Ouija Board and Sea The Stars, Cape Cross, is represented by two fillies. A half-sister to the 2010 Group winning sprinter Amico Fritz (Lot 116) and a daughter of the Prix Vermeille winner Volvoreta (Lot 3).
Making up the consignment of 10 yearlings is a Pivotal half-brother to Gr.1 Prix Saint-Alary second, Asti (Lot 20), and a Medicean granddaughter of dual Gr.1 winner and Breeders’ Cup heroine, Starine.
