Equiano is the sire on fire with 3 Stakes winners/Gr.1 performers in 5 days

Equiano is really proving the sire on fire recently with three Stakes winners or Gr.1 performers in the last five days.

Equilateral became the latest new Stakes winner in landing the Listed DC Training and Development Services Scarbrough Stakes at Doncaster today. Trained by Charlie Hills for owner/breeder Prince Khalid Abdullah he had shown to go well when fresh in the past and was returning from a 52-day break to land his first Stakes victory.

Jockey Ryan Moore said: “Equilateral is a smart horse who loves 5f and a level track. He picked up well and I thought he was going to win pretty comfortably but he may have slightly needed this race. I think he’ll win a Group race at some point.”

Previous to this first Stakes victory the Juddmonte Farms home-bred had won three races and been placed second in the Gr.3 Palace House Stakes and third in the Listed Cammidge Trophy Stakes.  He has always shown enormous promise at home and will hopefully continue to fulfill that potential on the racecourse.

The four-year-old colt is out of Tarentaise (Oasis Dream), a half-sister to Group winners and sires Cityscape and Bated Breath, plus Scuffle, dam of recent Gr.2 winner Logician.

His sire Equiano also had a successful weekend with triple Gr.1 winner The Tin Man finishing a brave second in the Gr.1 Betfair Sprint Cup at Haydock, and Dakota Gold winning his first Stakes race when landing the Listed Garrowby Stakes at York.
